Clos Lucé Castle
Situated in the Loire Valley, Clos Lucé is one of France's notable mansions. Leonardo da Vinci resided here for the last three years of his life. Prior to that, the Chateau was home to nobility, including Francis I and Marguerite de Navarre. This site is rich in history.
The castle serves as a tribute to da Vinci's life and works. In the basement, numerous sketches of inventions conceived by the artist in 1450 can be seen, predating actual inventions by centuries, such as tanks and helicopters.
Walking through the surrounding gardens, visitors can view models of these pioneering inventions, exemplifying engineering feats. Clos Lucé Chateau is a must-visit in Amboise, located less than half a mile from the city's notable castle, connected by an underground passageway.
As you explore the various rooms of Clos Lucé, you will gain insight into the artist's lifestyle. Upon his death at 67, the main room housed his famous work, the Mona Lisa.
New immersive space
On the first floor, an immersive show features 17 masterpieces of Leonardo da Vinci in a single area. This exhibition reveals insights into the painting process, from sketches to final artworks. The unfolding scenery provides a unique vision of da Vinci's contributions.
This new space includes 500 m² of galleries dedicated to Da Vinci's work, featuring models, 3D animations, and video games designed to engage audiences of all ages in the Renaissance master’s creative process.
