Clos Lucé Castle
Located in the Loire Valley, Clos Lucé is one of the most famous mansions in France. Leonardo da Vinci spent the last three years of his life in this historic building, previously home to nobility like Francis I and Marguerite de Navarre. The castle honors da Vinci’s life, showcasing sketches of inventions from 1450, such as a tank, siege bridge, and helicopter, which predate their realization by centuries.
Visitors can explore gardens featuring models of these inventions. Clos Lucé is an essential trip in Amboise and is located less than half a mile from the city’s famous castle, connected by an underground passageway.
As you tour Clos Lucé, you will envision da Vinci's life; upon his death at 67, the mansion still housed his masterpiece: the Mona Lisa.
New immersive space
The first floor features an immersive show that brings together the 17 masterpieces of Leonardo da Vinci. This exhibition elucidates the painting process, from preparatory drawing to final artwork. Visitors will gain a unique vision and in-depth knowledge of da Vinci’s work.
This new space encompasses 500 m² of galleries dedicated to Da Vinci's work, including models, 3D animations, and video games that engage audiences of all ages in the creative process of the Renaissance master.
