Palia Stata Hiking Excursion

We will meet in front of the parking lot of Vigla Hotel to begin our hiking tour around Amorgos. Our hike will follow the Palia Strata trail, situated at an altitude of 400 meters (1,312 ft) along the east coast of Amorgos, covering approximately 10 km (6.2 miles).

During the hike, we will pause to enjoy the island's landscapes and views of the Aegean Sea. The first stop will be in Asfontilitis, an abandoned rural settlement with wells and numerous white houses, where we will observe the exterior of Aghios Nikolaos, an orthodox church.

Next, we will visit Kapsala, an area with caves historically inhabited by monks. Our final stop will be the Monastery of Panagia Hozoviotissa, the second oldest monastery in Greece, offering spectacular panoramic views.

The hiking tour concludes in Chora, the capital of Amorgos, where there will be an opportunity to take a break at a traditional restaurant for food. We will then return to the meeting point, completing the excursion in about 8 to 8.5 hours.
