Ceremony Details
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Amritsar and board a vehicle to attend the Wagah Border Closing Ceremony. After a drive of about 40 minutes, we'll arrive at the Wagah-Attari border. This ceremony has been taking place daily since 1948. Upon arrival, we'll sit on the bleachers and enjoy a welcome drink. During the ceremony, you'll see the closing of the border fence as the border guards salute each other and perform various military movements and formations.
As we watch the closing of the Wagah border, we'll explain the history behind this ritual, also known as the "Beating Retreat Ceremony". Every evening before sunset, both Indian and Pakistani soldiers meet here to participate in this 30-minute event displaying their patriotism and camaraderie.
Finally, after 4-5 hours of enjoying this ceremony at the Wagah-Attari border, we'll take you back to your hotel in Amritsar.
