Wadden Sea Cruise and Seal Safari
After meeting at the Amsterdam River Cruise Dock, participants will take a bus to the Wadden Sea. The 90-minute bus ride showcases Holland's rural beauty, with views of farms, villas, and windmills.
Upon arrival at the coast, boarding the boat for a cruise of the Wadden Sea allows for sightings of grey seals, porpoises, and other wildlife in the coastal wetlands and tidal system. The Wadden Sea is designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and serves as a vital stop for migratory birds. The calm sea conditions present minimal wave activity, and the cruise includes sailing along the levee that protects lowlands from flooding.
The boat trip concludes at the same harbor of departure. Once back on land, the tour will pass through the 17th-century village of Twisk to reach the historic town of Medemblik on the IJsselmeer coast. Participants will have free time to explore the narrow streets, visit the windmill, brewery, castle, shop, or eat.
From Medemblik, the return journey to Amsterdam will commence by bus.
