Angers Castle is a significant fortress in western France, home to the Apocalypse Tapestry, a 14th-century masterpiece.

The Counts of Anjou built Angers Castle on the banks of the Maine River to showcase their power. The fortress has been reinforced over centuries, featuring 17 defensive towers and a deep moat. Your ticket grants access to the towers and battlements, and visitors are encouraged to explore the renowned medieval gardens. The castle also includes the chapel of St. John the Baptist, which exhibits various sacred art pieces from medieval times. The highlight is the Apocalypse Tapestry, measuring 20 feet high and 350 feet long, which visually narrates the Apocalypse of Saint John and is one of France's most important tapestries, noted for its size and preservation condition.

Free Admission

Admission is free for:

Young people from the EU aged 18 to 25.Children under 18, regardless of nationality.

Additionally, entry is free on the first Sunday of the month from January to March and November to December, and during the third weekend of September. To obtain free admission, visit the ticket office and present proof of eligibility.
