If you're in Ilha Grande, don't miss the opportunity to take a tour around the Acaiá Cave and its main lagoons.
Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet at the Vila do Abraão pier, where a boat will take us to the southwest of Ilha Grande, specifically to the Alcaiá Cave. The stops along the way will last between 30 and 40 minutes.
Our first stop is Lagoa Azul, noted for its shallow and transparent waters and abundant small fish. This lagoon is recognized for its resemblance to Port Antonio in Jamaica, where the film The Blue Lagoon was filmed. It is considered one of the 7 wonders of Ilha Grande.
Next, we will visit the Acaiá Cave, which measures about 30 metres (98 feet) wide and 1 metre (3.2 feet) high. We will access the cave by descending approximately 10 metres (32 feet) through narrow passages.
Inside, at 8 metres (26 feet) below sea level, a crack allows water to flow into an underground gallery, forming a beach of stones. The sunlight creates a remarkable level of fluorescence, producing a turquoise-green fog with flickering lights.
We will proceed to Lagoa Verde, featuring emerald waters and a small beach. This location is ideal for snorkelling due to its diverse marine life, including the Abudefduf fish.
Our final stop will be at a restaurant on the beach, where you can enjoy a typical island meal consisting of fish and bananas. After lunch, we will return to the meeting point, concluding the tour after approximately 7 hours of travel.
