Pacaya Volcano Hike

Description

At the indicated time, we’ll pick you up at your hotel in Antigua Guatemala, and travel by bus to San Vicente Pacaya in Escuintla.

After a 1 hour and 15 minute drive, we'll begin the hike up the Pacaya Volcano. The 1.5-hour trekking route includes learning about the history of this active volcanic cone, which has had at least 23 eruptions since the Spanish arrived. You will also enjoy views of the region.

Visitors can observe the lava firsthand due to the volcano's ongoing activity. Along the way, we will stop to toast marshmallows in the magma streams during a rest period.

After exploring the summit of the Pacaya volcano, we will walk for about an hour back to the village to return to Antigua Guatemala. You can expect to be dropped off approximately 8 hours after the start of the activity.
