Pacaya Volcano Hike

In this activity, we'll hike up the Pacaya volcano and walk along its volcanic cone while admiring the lava rivers. We'll even stop to toast marshmallows!

Description

At the indicated time we'll pick you up at your hotel in Antigua Guatemala for a bus ride to San Vicente Pacaya in Escuintla.

After a one hour and fifteen minute drive, we'll start the hike up the slope of the Pacaya Volcano. This 1.5-hour trekking route includes learning about the history of the active volcanic cone, which has had at least 23 eruptions since the Spanish arrival. Enjoy views of the region as well.

You'll see the volcano's lava firsthand. Along the hike, we'll stop to rest and toast marshmallows in the magma streams. After exploring the summit of the Pacaya volcano, we’ll walk back to the village for about an hour before returning to Antigua Guatemala. We aim to drop you off around 8 hours after the start.
