Pacaya Volcano Hike

In this activity, we'll hike up the Pacaya volcano and walk along its volcanic cone while admiring the lava rivers. We'll even stop to toast marshmallows!

Description

At the indicated time, we will pick you up at your hotel in Antigua Guatemala and travel by bus to San Vicente Pacaya, located in Escuintla.

After a one hour and fifteen minute drive, we'll arrive at this town to start the hike up the slope of the Pacaya Volcano. The 1.5-hour trekking route will include information on the history of this active volcanic cone, which has experienced at least 23 eruptions since the Spanish arrived. Enjoy views of the region as well.

During the hike, you will see the volcano's lava firsthand. We will also stop to toast marshmallows in the magma streams. After exploring the summit, we will walk for about an hour back to the village, where we will return to Antigua Guatemala. You will be dropped off approximately 8 hours after the start.
