Sistelo Hiking Trail

When booking, you can choose between two options. For both, we'll meet at Largo Visc do Rio Vez in Sistelo at the specified time. Each option lasts between 2 and 3 hours with an English-speaking guide, concluding with a tasting of local products.

Sistelo Hiking

The guided tour starts through the streets of Sistelo, known as the Portuguese Tibet. Next, we visit the Viscount of Sistelo's Castle and learn about its connection to the Galician Pazos. We will cross the Roman bridge over the River Vez and explore the Horreos, traditional granaries in the region. The hike includes paths leading to the terraces that characterize local agriculture and a visit to a mountain refuge to learn about the shepherds' lives.

Sistelo Walkways Hiking

The hike begins after a short drive to Valdevez Arches, where we will stop at the medieval Vilela bridge from the 13th century. The trail includes Sistelo valleys wooden walkways, passing the Vez river to appreciate waterfalls and diverse vegetation, including strawberry trees, beeches, and oaks. Sightings of otters and salamanders are possible. The guide will share insights on agriculture linked to neighboring Galicia.
