Chachani Volcano Two-Day Journey

Day 1

Your adventure begins at 7:30 am, when we will collect you from your accommodation in Arequipa using a jeep. Our route takes us to Pampa Cañahuas, situated at the base of the Chachani Volcano, where we will prepare our equipment while the guide shares essential tips.

The next two hours will be dedicated to gradually ascending towards the base camp, elevated at 17,060 feet (5,200 meters) above sea level. Upon arrival, we'll set up our tents and enjoy a lunch featuring soup and pasta or canned food.

As night falls, we will unwind with herbal tea and prepare for rest.

Day 2

Awaken early! Our second day begins at 2 am. After ensuring all is ready for our journey, we’ll enjoy a nourishing breakfast to energize us. As dawn breaks, we'll embark on our ascent to the summit of Chachani Volcano.

Weather permitting, we should reach the summit around 5 am following an invigorating hike. At the top, you'll have free time to snack and take in the stunning vistas of the nearby volcanoes, including Coropuna, the snow-capped summits of Ampato, Hualca Hualca, and the active Sabancaya, Misti, and Ubinas volcanoes.

After this experience, we'll begin our descent back to base camp, stopping periodically to rest. Once we arrive at the starting point, our jeep will be ready to transport you back to Arequipa, with an estimated arrival time at your hotel around 7 pm.
