Get your walking boots on and get ready for a hike through the stunning Arequipa countryside. We'll explore the trails surrounding the Misti Volcano, admire the Laguna de Salinas and make friends with llamas and alpacas!

Laguna de Salinas Day Trip

After picking you up from your accommodation in Arequipa between 6 and 6:30 am, we'll start our journey towards the Laguna de Salinas, or Lake Salinas, located on the edge of the Salinas & Aguada Blanca Natural Reserve.

On the way, we'll stop in Chiguata, a typical village in the area, to have a continental breakfast consisting of juice, mate or coffee, cereals, and toast.

We'll delve into the spectacular natural setting and discover the incredible plants and wildlife characteristic of the region of Arequipa.

You'll only have to look up to see that we're just behind the majestic Misti Volcano. Did you know that this is one of the region's ten active volcanoes? During our tour, we'll see an Andean forest formed by small trees and bushes, known locally as queñuales!

When we reach Laguna de Salinas, we'll discover its changing landscapes: if the lake is dry, it will be as white as snow. If there is water, we'll see the large amount of salt that collects around. What's more, as we admire the views, we'll be accompanied by the local alpacas and llamas. Did you know you can see 3 types of flamingos?

We'll be able to explore the vicinity of the lagoon and the area of the Lojen volcano, as well as some thermal baths. After the walk, we'll leave you free for lunch and then return to Arequipa.

The tour will end at your hotel at around 4.30 pm.

How it works?

You can expect a full day of adventure starting early in the morning. Your guide will pick you up from your accommodation, giving you the chance to enjoy breakfast en route. The hike will take you through diverse landscapes filled with unique flora and fauna, providing opportunities to observe local wildlife including llamas, alpacas, and various species of flamingos.
