Arica and Azapa Valley Exploration

Your journey will begin between 9 am and 10 am with a convenient hotel pick-up in Arica, followed by a transfer to the city's historic heart. Once there, we will set off on a walking tour that unveils the charm of this picturesque locale, recognized as the northernmost point on the Chilean coastline.

The adventure kicks off in Arica, often referred to as "the city of eternal spring," as we stroll along the scenic Chinchorro and Las Machas beaches. A visit to the stunning St. Mark’s Cathedral, constructed during the period when Arica was part of Peru, will be our next highlight. We will then proceed to the Museo de Sitio Colón 10, where the ancient Chinchorro cemetery, a testament to the pre-Columbian civilization that once thrived in this region, awaits our discovery.

The journey continues past the Arica House of Culture and the former railway station that offered connections to La Paz. The city exploration will culminate at the iconic Morro de Arica, providing us with breathtaking panoramic views of both the city center and the expansive Pacific coastline.

After our Arica tour, we will venture to the periphery of the city to explore Azapa Valley, where we will admire the remarkable geoglyph artistry of Sombrero Hill. Our next destination will be the Museum of San Miguel de Azapa, where we will delve into the intriguing history surrounding the Chinchorro mummies.

To cap off our visit, we will stop at a local farm within the Azapa Valley for a delightful tasting experience featuring the area’s renowned local olives. Following this enjoyable stop, we will return to your hotel in Arica, arriving around 2:30 pm.
