Aymara Region 6-day Tour

On this tour from Arica, we'll travel for 6 days through the beautiful landscapes of the Aymara community region of northern Chile, crossing one of the most spectacular areas of the altiplano.

Aymara Region 6-day Tour

Day 1

We'll pick you up at your hotel in Arica and drive to the Presencias Tutelares, a set of sculptures created by Juan Diaz Fleming. After visiting the Apacheta viewpoint, we'll proceed to Codpa to visit its Wine Museum and enjoy a picnic lunch. We will also explore the town of Guañacagua and its church of San Pedro.

In the afternoon, we will explore different crops in the valley, check out the petroglyphs of Cerro Blanco, and enjoy views from the Vizcachani ravine. Dinner and overnight will be at rural lodging in the Caragua sector.

Day 2

After breakfast, we'll trek for 6 to 8 hours through the area, visiting various mountains used by the Aymara for ceremonial offerings, including Tangane and Pukare mountains. The day concludes with a picnic dinner and overnight at the inn in Caragua.

Day 3

We will visit the Belén sector to see its churches and the archaeological site of Guayguarane, then proceed to the Tambo sector for the ancient Zapahuira colcas. A trekking route will follow in the sector of Socoroma, with a choice between Inca trail or Calvario hill.

Enjoy a traditional Aymara meal, dinner and overnight at a rural house in Socoroma.

Day 4

After breakfast, visit the viewpoint of Putre and Chucuyo viewpoint for views of the altiplano. We will also stop at Cotacotani Lagoons and embark on a short trek around Chungará Lake. Overnight will be at a rural lodge in Parinacota or Chivatambo.

Day 5

Visit Chinchillani hill and the Surire Salt Flats, then proceed to the Chilcaya Lagoons. Enjoy a dip in the Polloquere hot springs. Accommodation will be in a rural lodging in Parinacota or Chivatambo.

Day 6

We will head to Caquena and Cospilla and then to the colorful mountains of Suriplaza, with options for trekking. After lunch, we will visit the Cardones Ravine and conclude at the geoglyphs and colcas of the Lluta sector, returning to your hotel in Arica in the late afternoon.

Accommodation and meals

All stays are in shared rooms in rural houses with included dinner and breakfast. Lodging may vary based on availability or weather.

Lunches are included as picnic lunches during tours.
