Aymara Region 6-day Tour

On this tour from Arica, we'll travel for 6 days through the landscapes of the Aymara community region of northern Chile, crossing stunning altiplano areas.

Aymara Region 6-day Tour

Day 1

We will pick you up at your hotel in Arica and drive to the Presencias Tutelares sculptures. After visiting the Apacheta viewpoint, we will proceed to Codpa, visiting the Wine Museum and having a picnic lunch. We'll explore the Vitor ravine and Guañacagua, including the church of San Pedro. The day concludes with dinner and an overnight stay at rural lodging in Caragua.

Day 2

After breakfast, we will embark on a trekking route through various mountains used by the Aymara for ceremonial offerings, including Tangane and Pukare. The hike will last 6 to 8 hours. We will return for a picnic dinner and overnight stay at the inn in Caragua.

Day 3

We will visit the Belén sector, including churches and the Guayguarane archaeological site. In Tambo, we will see ancient constructions like Zapahuira colcas. A trekking route will be undertaken in Socoroma, with a choice between the Inca trail or Calvario hill. Dinner and lodging will be in a rural house in Socoroma.

Day 4

After breakfast, we will visit the viewpoint of Putre and Chucuyo, offering views of volcanoes and lagoons. We will stop at Cotacotani Lagoons and Chungará Lake for trekking. Overnight stay will be at a rural lodge in Parinacota or Chivatambo.

Day 5

We will visit Chinchillani hill and the Surire Salt Flats, then the Chilcaya Lagoons. The day will end with a visit to the Polloquere hot springs for a dip. Accommodation will be in Parinacota or Chivatambo.

Day 6

We will head to Caquena and Cospilla, and then to the colorful mountains of Suriplaza, with options for trekking. After lunch, we will visit the Cardones Ravine and see the geoglyphs and colcas of the Lluta sector, returning to your hotel in Arica in the late afternoon.

Accommodation and meals

All stays are in shared rooms in rural houses, including dinner and breakfast. Lodging places may vary based on availability. Lunches are included and consist of picnic lunches during tours.
