Set off from Armenia on an adventure to one of the most important nature reserves in this part of Colombia on our hike around the Otún Quimbaya Sanctuary. We'll go on an unforgettable hiking route around this beautiful place.
Otún Quimbaya Sanctuary Hike
We will pick you up from your hotel in Armenia at 8 am and set off northbound for the Otún Quimbaya Flora and Fauna Sanctuary.
After a 1 hour 30 minutes drive, we will arrive at this nature reserve in the Central Cordillera of the Colombian Andes. This space is dedicated to the conservation of various species, some endangered, that thrive in its ecosystems.
Upon arrival, we will start a 1.2-mile (2-kilometre) hike through the Andean rainforest. This low difficulty hike will allow us to observe numerous birds in their natural habitat, including moustached antpittas, multicoloured tanagers, torrent ducks, and more endemic species.
Additionally, we may encounter mammals such as monkeys, silver foxes, tapirs, and pacaranas. The sanctuary provides a protected environment for these animals.
During the walk, we will stop for a traditional local lunch, which includes one course and a drink. After the meal, we will continue our exploration of this area’s nature.
We will return to Armenia and drop you off at your hotel at 3 pm.
