Panela Tour

At 8 am, we will meet at your hotel in Armenia and start a 1-hour 30-minute drive to an agricultural farm.

Upon arrival, we will explore the sugar cane plantations where panela is produced. This natural sweetener is used in various Colombian desserts and drinks like aguapanela, guarapo, and chicha.

We will learn about the panela production process, which includes crushing sugar canes in mills called trapiches, followed by moulding and beating to create a solid block of panela. Farm workers will guide us through this process step by step.

After learning about this essential ingredient in Colombian cuisine, we will visit a local nature park for a relaxing hike and some free time for lunch and exploration.

Participants will return to their hotel at 4 pm.
