La Palma & Tajogaite Volcano Day Trip
At the scheduled time, we'll meet at the Port of Los Cristianos in South Tenerife. A ferry will take us to La Palma to view the most recent volcanic eruption in the Canary Islands, the Tajogaite eruption.
After 2.5 hours on the boat, we'll arrive in Santa Cruz de La Palma for a guided tour of its colonial houses. Next, we'll head to the Mirador de la Cumbrecita in the Caldera de Taburiente National Park.
We will then stop in El Paso for lunch. Following lunch, we'll observe the changing vegetation as we move toward the Tajogaite volcano and discuss volcanology and the formation of the Canary Islands. We will also learn about the Teneguía eruption in 1971.
Next, we will visit the Tacande neighborhood for views of the volcano and head to Tazacorte to see the lava flows from the Tajogaite volcano.
Lunch in Tazacorte includes two typical Canarian dishes. After eating, we'll visit the Mirador de Tajuya for another view of the volcano.
Finally, we'll return to Santa Cruz de La Palma to board the ferry back to Tenerife, arriving at approximately 7:30 pm.
