Maasai Village of Olpopongi Day Trip

At 8 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Arusha and set off for the Maasai village of Olpopongi. The drive to the manyatta will take just under 1 hour 30 minutes.

This Maasai village, located on the western edge of Mount Kilimanjaro, welcomes visitors. Built entirely by tribe members, the village has some museum-like huts displaying different artefacts.

Accompanied by your guide and some tribe members, you'll explore the village to understand Maasai culture and customs. You'll discover their organization, survival methods among wild animals, dietary practices, and traditional dances.

You can also participate in a small walking safari to learn about Maasai hunting techniques and their use of natural medicines, such as a drink made from cattle milk and blood. The community will prepare a small tasting of traditional Maasai food. After the activities, we will return to your hotel in the afternoon.

What should I bring?

On the day of the activity, we recommend wearing comfortable clothes and shoes. Don't forget to bring a hat, sunglasses, and sun cream. Additionally, it is advisable to bring enough water for the duration of this day trip.
