Mount Kilimanjaro Hike: 7 Days

The Marangu Route is the fastest and easiest way to climb to the top of Kilimanjaro. Most camps along this route have running water and solar energy.

Day 1: Arusha

Upon arrival, we will transfer you to the hotel in Arusha for rest and exploration before the hike begins.

Day 2: Arusha - Marangu Gate

After breakfast, meet the Marangu route guides before heading to Marangu Gate, the eastern access to Kilimanjaro. During the 8 km (5 mi) journey, we will see colobus monkeys and eucalyptus forests. We will have lunch halfway before reaching the Mandara Huts camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Marangu Gate - Mawenzi & Kibo Volcanoes

After breakfast, we will hike through the jungle and along a path with heather and giant lobelias. We will have lunch and enjoy views of the Mawenzi volcano before reaching the Horombo Huts camp after 11 km (7 mi) of trekking, where we will have dinner and rest.

Day 4: Mawenzi & Kibo Volcanoes

We will prepare our equipment for another day of hiking, crossing paths leading to the inactive volcanoes. After enjoying the views, we will have lunch before heading to the Kibo summit. We will hike for several hours before reaching the summit and resting at the Kibo Huts camp, which lacks running water.

Day 5: Kibo Volcano - Uhuru

We will wake up at midnight to climb to the Uhuru peak, the highest point of Kilimanjaro. The hike covers four kilometers (2 miles) with a stop at Gilman's Point for views. We will enjoy the sunrise at 5895 m (19000 ft) before descending to Kibo Huts for dinner and then to Horombo Huts for the night.

Day 6: Uhuru - Mandara Gate - Arusha

On the last day, we will descend to Mandara Huts for lunch and then to Mandara Gate, where a vehicle will take us back to the hotel in Arusha.

Day 7: Arusha

Breakfast at the hotel before heading back to the airport.
