Mount Kilimanjaro Trek: 10 Days

During the 10 day trek, we'll ascend along the Lemosho route to Kilimanjaro, experiencing various landscapes including forests, plateaus, desert, and glaciers.

Day 1

We'll meet at the airport and transfer to a hotel in Arusha. After settling in, we will meet the guides to discuss details about the Lemosho route. The day concludes with dinner.

Day 2

After breakfast, we'll drive for two hours to Londorossi Gate, the western entrance to Kilimanjaro. The 5-kilometre trek begins through cultivated fields to the Lemosho trail, leading to the Big Tree camp where we'll have dinner and spend the night.

Day 3

After breakfast, we'll enter a heather area and ascend for about 9 kilometres to the Shira plateau, where we'll camp for the night.

Day 4

We'll cross the Shira plateau, reach moorland, and ascend to Moir camp under the ice fields after approximately six hours of trekking.

Day 5

The trek continues to the western part of Kilimanjaro, crossing into the Alpine desert and reaching Lava Tower camp at 4,114 metres. We'll acclimatize before dinner and rest.

Day 6

We'll have a seven-hour walk, descending to Barranco Valley. We’ll arrive at Karanga Valley camp for dinner and to view the sunset over the Kilimanjaro glacier valley.

Day 7

Morning climb over Karanga River involves approximately 6 kilometres of trekking to Kosovo camp.

Day 8

We start our ascent to Uhuru peak at 5,896 meters early in the morning, enjoying views before descending to camp for dinner.

Day 9

After sunrise, we descend to Mweka Gate, have lunch, and return to the hotel in Arusha for a celebration dinner.

Day 10

We will accompany you to the airport for your flight home.

Accommodation

On the first and last nights, we'll stay at Maura Apartments & Lodges in Arusha. The other nights will be spent in tents.
