Mount Kilimanjaro Trek: 7 Days

The Marangu Route is the fastest and easiest way to climb to the top of Kilimanjaro. Most of the camps on this route have running water and solar energy.

Day 1

We will meet you at the airport and take you to the hotel in Arusha, where you can settle in and prepare for the trek.

Day 2

After breakfast, we'll meet with the Marangu route guides and head to Marangu Gate. The journey includes eight kilometres (5 miles) through areas where you can spot colobus monkeys and eucalyptus forests. We will stop for lunch before proceeding to the Mandara Huts camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3

Post-breakfast, we’ll trek for an hour through the jungle until we reach a path with heather and giant lobelias. After lunch with views of Mawenzi volcano, we will complete the eleven-kilometre (7 miles) trek to Horombo Huts camp for dinner and rest.

Day 4

We will prepare for the third day of trekking. After crossing heather paths, we'll enjoy views of Mawenzi and Kibo before heading to Kibo summit. We’ll spend the night at Kibo Huts camp, which has no running water.

Day 5

We'll wake up at midnight to climb to Uhuru peak, the highest point of Kilimanjaro at 5895 meters (19000 feet). After enjoying the views at Gilman's Point, we'll begin our descent back to Kibo Huts for dinner and then proceed to Horombo Huts for the night.

Day 6

On the last day, we will descend via the moors to Mandara Huts for lunch. The final trek of three kilometres (2 miles) will take us to Mandara Gate, where a vehicle will return us to the hotel in Arusha.

Day 7

We’ll have breakfast at the hotel and transfer back to the airport.

Accommodation

For the first and final night of the trek, we will stay at Maura Apartments & Lodges.Other nights will be spent in camps.
