Mount Meru 5 Day Trek

Day 1

We'll meet at the airport, where a guide will take you to the hotel in Arusha. After settling in, we'll meet the expert trekking guides to learn about safety guidelines for the ascent. We'll have dinner at the hotel and rest for the adventure ahead.

Day 2

After breakfast and preparing our equipment, we'll head to Momela Gate, the entrance to Mount Meru Natural Park. A forest ranger will escort us to safely enjoy the local wildlife along the ten kilometre (6 miles) route. After approximately six hours of trekking, we will rest at the Miriakamba Hut camp, have dinner, and spend the night.

Day 3

The second day involves the steepest climb, trekking eight kilometres (5 miles) along the mountain's peak. We will enjoy views of the crater and ashy surroundings characteristic of the volcano. We'll have a hot meal at the Saddle Hut and can hike to the top of Little Meru for sunset views. Dinner and rest will be at the camp.

Day 4

On the third day, we'll reach the summit of Mount Meru, trekking more than five kilometres (3 miles). At the top, we will enjoy views of Kilimanjaro and appreciate the crater and inner cliffs. After a meal at the Saddle Hut camp, we'll descend thirteen kilometres (8 miles) and spend the night at Miriakamba Hut camp.

Day 5

On the final day, we'll complete our descent by walking through meadows and forests. Before reaching the Momella pass in the late morning, we'll traverse a ten kilometre (6 miles) route while enjoying the local wildlife. After returning to Momella Gate, we'll head to Arusha hotel for dinner and rest after this adventure.

For the first and final night of the trek, we'll stay at the Maura Apartments & Lodges in Arusha.
