On this shore excursion to the Dead Sea and Masada, you'll swim at the lowest geographical point on Earth and visit a World Heritage archaeological site, a fortress more than 2000 years old.

Shore Excursion to the Dead Sea and Masada

The guide will meet you at the cruise port of Ashdod upon your ship's arrival. After boarding the vehicle, we will travel to Masada National Park, located near the southwestern shore of the Dead Sea.

Following a two-hour bus ride, we will reach a cable car station and ascend to the top of the Masada plateau via tram, reaching a height of 434 meters (1423 feet). A guided tour of King Herod's palace/fortress will commence, as this location is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

We will explore the archaeological grounds, including ancient mosaics, cellars, bathhouse, and visit the Masada Museum to learn about its history and the siege by the Roman army.

Next, we will stop at Ein Bokek beach on the shore of the Dead Sea for two hours of free time for lunch and to experience the salt lake, located more than 300 meters (984 feet) below sea level. Floating on the water is a remarkable experience.

You will also have the opportunity to collect some exfoliating clay from the Dead Sea for use as a skin mask, which has revitalizing antioxidant properties.

Finally, we will return to the bus and head back to the port of Ashdod, concluding the tour after nine hours.
