Embark on a captivating exploration around Asunción, where you will unveil the intriguing legacy of the Ferrocarril Carlos Antonio López, the pioneering railway of South America. This journey is packed with fascinating historical insights that promise to inspire awe!

Historical Train Tour

Beginning with a morning pick-up at 8 am from your hotel in Asunción, our first destination will be the train museum, housed within the historic San Francisco railway station.

Here, we will take in a variety of artifacts connected to the Ferrocarril Carlos Antonio López, the continent's first railway line. The museum offers a glimpse into Paraguay's railway history, showcasing instruments and pieces of furniture alongside one of the initial locomotives imported from England for passenger service.

Our Asunción exploration continues at the Botanical Garden station, where an antique steam locomotive awaits. After delving into its storied past, we will depart from the Paraguayan capital, retracing the path of the original South American train as we travel to Pirayú, home to the sole railway station in the interior of Paraguay boasting two towers.

Once in Pirayú, you will have an hour to enjoy lunch before we proceed to Sapucai, often referred to as the city of trains, a significant stop on the inaugural railway route. Here, we will visit the Railway Museum, which features workshops established in 1895 and admire the splendid steam locomotives, true treasures of transportation heritage.

Our day concludes with a return at 3 pm to your hotel in Asunción.
