In this tour of Asunción and its surroundings, we'll discover the history of the Ferrocarril Carlos Antonio López railway, the first train in South America.

Historical Train Tour

After picking you up at your hotel in Asunción at 8 am, we'll go directly to the train museum, located in the old railway station of San Francisco.

First, we'll admire objects related to the Ferrocarril Carlos Antonio López railway and various instruments and pieces of furniture linked to the railway history of Paraguay. The museum also houses one of the first locomotives that arrived from England for passenger transport service.

We'll continue our tour at the Botanical Garden station, where we'll see an old steam locomotive. Following this, we'll leave Asunción and, adhering to the route of the first train in South America, we'll proceed to Pirayú to visit its train station, noted for having two towers.

Following an hour for lunch in Pirayú, our next stop will be Sapucai, known as the city of trains. Here, we'll visit the Railway Museum, featuring workshops from 1895 and its remarkable steam locomotives.

Finally, at 3 pm we'll return you to your hotel in Asunción.
