Famine Stela, Qubbet el-Hawa & Kitchener Island Tour Highlights
Your journey begins with a pickup from your hotel or the boat you are staying on, leading you to the east bank of the Nile. From there, we will embark on a boat to Sehel Island.
Upon arrival, you will explore the Famine Stela. This natural rock formation shows a Pharaoh making offerings to deities Anuqet, Satet, and Jnum, with a 32-column inscription detailing the Pharaoh's actions during a severe drought and his request for a flood of the Nile. In response, the Pharaoh funded the construction of temples on Elephantine Island.
Next, we will proceed to the necropolis of Qubbet el-Hawa or the Valley of the Princes, where numerous tombs of high-ranking individuals can be found, including nine well-preserved mummies from Egypt's Late Period and a mummified crocodile.
We will then navigate to Kitchener Island, a transformed botanical garden since 1928, featuring lush trees, rare plants, and exotic birds. You will experience a peaceful environment before returning to your ship or hotel.
