Famine Stela, Qubbet el-Hawa & Kitchener Island Tour Highlights
Your journey begins with a pickup from your hotel or boat, taking you to the east bank of the Nile. Here, you will board a boat heading to Sehel Island.
Upon arrival, you will discover the Famine Stela, a natural rock formation showing a Pharaoh making offerings to the deities Anuqet, Satet, and Jnum. A 32-column inscription tells the story of the Pharaoh’s concern over drought and his plea to Jnum for a life-giving flood of the Nile, leading to the construction of temples on Elephantine Island.
Your journey continues to the necropolis of Qubbet el-Hawa, or the Valley of the Princes, featuring tombs of high-ranking individuals, including nine well-preserved mummies from Egypt's Late Period, spanning over 2,500 years of history, including mummified crocodiles.
Next, we will navigate to Kitchener Island, a botanical garden established in 1928, filled with diverse trees, rare plants, and exotic birds. Here, you'll experience a serene environment.
After completing the tour, we will return you to your ship or hotel.
