Elephantine Island Tour

  • 2 Stunden

Enjoy a leisurely felucca ride along the River Nile and discover Aswan's largest island: Elephantine Island.

Tour Details

We'll pick you up from your hotel or cruise ship in Aswan and head to the banks of Africa's longest river: the Nile, where we'll board a traditional Egyptian felucca to Elephantine Island. This island, once a significant natural border between Egypt and Nubia, housed a fortified area.

On the boat tour of Elephantine Island, an English-speaking guide will explain its history. The name of the island is linked to its history as a major trading centre for ivory. We will also visit the Khnun Temple from outside, a structure once used to measure the Nile River floods.

Afterwards, we'll return to the felucca and head to the Aswan Botanical Garden, also called Jet Narty by the Nubians, to explore various endemic plants and flowers before returning to your hotel or cruise, approximately 4 hours after pickup.
