Tour Details
At the designated time, we will meet in front of the National Library of Greece to begin our tour of Greek mythology in Athens. We will discuss both well-known and lesser-known myths.
What is Athens' foundation myth? Who is the city’s patron saint? Why was the Acropolis constructed? Answers to these questions will unfold during this mythological tour of Athens, where legends are prevalent.
We will delve into a time filled with mysteries and admire the exterior of the Academy of Athens, home to the city's only sculptures of Plato and Socrates, and visit the Numismatic Museum, showcasing the history of ancient Greek coins and their significance in the ancient economy and politics.
Afterwards, we will stroll through the National Garden and in front of the Temple of Olympian Zeus and the Arch of Hadrian. Stops will include discussions on various myths featuring gods like Zeus, Poseidon, and Aphrodite. This will be a journey through Greek mythology, philosophy, and poetry, acknowledging the contributions from Athenian philosophers and poets.
Finally, after a total of 2 hours, we will conclude the tour in front of the Acropolis Museum.
