Meteora 1 or 2 Day Trip

Perched high up on sandstone rock formations, the Meteora Monasteries are spectacular buildings that blend with the natural landscape. Visit them on a 1 or 2 day trip from Athens!

Day Trip Details

At the indicated time, you'll head to Athens Central Station on your own and take the bus to Kalambaka Station, where you'll meet your guide.

After a 4-hour journey, we'll arrive in Kalambaka and proceed to the Meteora Monasteries. The driver will discuss the history of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

You can book the option with lunch, choosing from 10 main course options of Greek cuisine, along with salad, bread, and mineral water. Vegetarian and vegan options are available.

We'll have approximately 4 hours to visit the complex, accessing 3 of the 6 monasteries: the Monastery of St. Nikolaos, the Monastery of the Holy Trinity, and the Monastery of St. Stephen. The complex is built on various sandstone mounds.

Before returning to Kalambaka, we'll stop at the Hermit Caves, located between Pyxari and Amparia. After 14 hours together, we'll conclude the trip.

2-Day Trip to Meteora

Opt for a 2-day trip if you wish to explore Meteora further!

On the first day, upon arrival at Kalabaka, you'll check in at the hotel, followed by a visit to the Byzantine Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. In the evening, we'll view the sunset from the Hermit Caves and return to the hotel for dinner.

On the second day, a 4-hour guided tour of the Meteora monasteries will take place, entering 3 monasteries and stopping at 6 for exterior views. We will leave Kalambaka at 6 pm and return to Athens in about 4.5 hours.

Important: The 2-day trip is not available on specified dates in December 2024 and January 2025.

The 2-day trip includes 1 night of accommodation with breakfast. You can select between:

There will be no guided tours inside the monasteries, but an audio guide can be downloaded to learn about these structures.
