On this tour of ancient Athens and the Acropolis, we'll visit important landmarks such as the Parthenon, Monastiraki, and Plaka.
Tour Description
We will meet at 26 Athanasiou Diakou at the selected time to begin our tour of old Athens, exploring a city with origins over three thousand years old.
The first stop will include Hadrian's Arch and the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the largest in Greece during the Hellenistic era. We will then walk to the Acropolis of Athens, one of the world's most visited sites.
Entering through the Propylaea, the ancient entrance gate, we will see the Parthenon, the Temple of Athena Nike, and the Erechtheion. We will discuss the architecture and functionality of these buildings related to Hellenistic culture.
Next, we will visit the Odeon of Herodes Atticus and pass by the Agora, the heart of social, political, and commercial life in ancient Athens. We will view the Neoclassical National Observatory of Athens and ascend to a viewpoint overlooking the hills of Philopappos, Mars, and Pnyx.
In the Monastiraki district, we'll find the ruins of Hadrian's Library and the Tower of the Winds. Finally, we will stroll through the Athenian neighborhoods of Plaka and Anafiotika, concluding the tour 3.5 hours after starting.
Tickets to the Acropolis
You can book the guided tour of the Acropolis without tickets. Tickets must be purchased separately, considering the guided tour timetable, which is between 8 and 9 am.
Availability of tickets at the Acropolis ticket office on the day is not guaranteed, so early online purchase is recommended.
EU citizens under 25 and non-EU citizens under 18 gain free entry with ID. Adults over 65 receive a 50% discount at the ticket office or online. For eligible group members, it is advisable to choose the guided tour without tickets to facilitate advance ticket purchasing and enjoy free admission.
