Tour Details
The evening walking tour will commence on schedule at the Hotel the Dolli. From this starting point, we will explore the charming neighborhoods of Plaka and Monastiraki.
At the heart of the city, we will encounter two significant temples: the Orthodox Church of St. Mary Pantanassa and the Tzistarakis Mosque. We will appreciate the glow of these sacred structures while delving into their fascinating histories. One of them bears a noteworthy curse—let's discover which one it is!
Located behind the mosque are the remains of the ancient library of Hadrian, recognized as the second Hispanic emperor. Adjacent to this archaeological gem, we will enjoy splendid views of the Acropolis of Athens. The illumination of iconic structures like the Parthenon, the Propylaea, and the Erechtheion provides a unique perspective on these ancient marvels scattered throughout the city.
Close to the Hadrianic library, we'll visit the Cathedral of the Annunciation of St. Mary. This important Orthodox church is one of the central temples in Plaka, known for its rich historical essence. Here, we will also spot various remnants from the imperial period, including Hadrian's Arch, which dates back to the 2nd century AD.
After approximately 2.5 hours of exploration, we will conclude our evening tour by returning to our original meeting point.
