Tour Details
The evening tour of Athens commences at the Hotel the Dolli. The walking tour covers the neighborhoods of Plaka and Monastiraki.
Participants will observe two historic temples: the Orthodox Church of St. Mary Pantanassa and the Tzistarakis Mosque. The history of these buildings will be discussed. One temple is associated with a notable curse.
Behind the mosque are the remains of the ancient library of Hadrian. Nearby, the Acropolis of Athens provides scenic views, with its illuminated main monuments including the Parthenon, Propylaea, and Erechtheion.
Close to the Hadrianic library is the Cathedral of the Annunciation of St. Mary, one of the main temples in Plaka, a historic area of Athens. Signs of the imperial era, such as Hadrian's Arch from the 2nd century AD, can also be seen.
The tour lasts 2.5 hours and concludes by returning to the starting point.
