Why Visit the Temple of Olympian Zeus?

The Temple of Olympian Zeus, or Olympieion, was constructed between 470 and 456 BC and was one of the largest religious structures of the ancient world. Originally supported by 104 Corinthian columns, only 15 remain today. It measured 180 metres (590 feet) long and 40 metres (131 feet) wide and housed a significant gold and ivory statue of Zeus, which no longer exists. Your visit will allow you to appreciate the architectural details while enjoying views of nearby landmarks such as Syntagma Square, Zappeion Gardens, and Panathenaic Stadium.

The Temple of Olympian Zeus has the following opening hours:

April 1 to October 31: 8 am to 8 pm (final admission at 7:30 pm)November 1 to March 31: 8 am to 3 pm (final admission at 2:30 pm)
