On this free tour of the Centennial Olympic Park, we will explore the significance of the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta's history.
Description
We'll meet at the Centennial Olympic Park ringside at the scheduled time to examine an important chapter in Atlanta's sporting history.
During the tour, we will learn various facts about the 1996 Olympic Games, and their impact on Atlanta. We will walk through notable city squares referencing the Olympic Games, including a tribute to Ancient Greek athletes and an overview of host cities from previous editions. A sculpture of Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympic Games, will also be included.
We will address the tragic terrorist attack during the Atlanta Olympics and its consequences.
As we conclude our tour, we will pass by significant landmarks such as the Georgia Aquarium, the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, the World of Coca-Cola exhibition, the Skyview Atlanta Ferris Wheel, and the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel. The tour will last approximately an hour and 15 minutes, finishing near the initial starting point.
