The landscapes of the Lord of the Rings, geothermal activity, the rich Maori culture... discover all this and much more on the Hobbiton and Rotorua Tour.

Tour Details

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Auckland and start this day trip to Hobbiton and Rotorua.

On the way south, we'll share interesting facts and stories about New Zealand's largest city while enjoying views of iconic sites.

During the journey, we'll cross the Waikato countryside, one of the largest agricultural areas in the world. Look out for mountains, friendly animals, rivers, and beautiful scenery.

We'll arrive at Hobbiton, the famous film set of the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. We'll spend 2 hours touring The Shire, visiting 44 hobbit holes and gardens, and enjoying a drink in the Green Dragon™ Inn.

Next, we'll head to Tirau, known as the World Capital of Wrought Iron. We will take a break for food if desired.

In Rotorua, we'll explore the Wai-O-Tapu Geothermal Wonderland for a guided tour, viewing Lake Champagne, Devil's Bath, mud pools, and geothermal craters.

We'll enjoy a scenic drive around Rotorua's landmarks, including Lake Rotorua, the Rotorua Museum, Government Gardens, Whangapipiro Spring, and Blue Baths. If time permits, we can stop at a local shop for Manuka honey and souvenirs.

We will conclude the tour at the departure point in Auckland, approximately 13 hours after starting.
