The landscapes of the Lord of the Rings, geothermal activity, the rich Maori culture... discover all this and much more on the Hobbiton and Rotorua Tour.

Tour Details

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Auckland and start this day trip to Hobbiton and Rotorua.

On the way south, we'll provide interesting facts about New Zealand's biggest city and enjoy views of its iconic points of interest.

During the journey, we'll cross the Waikato countryside, one of the largest agricultural areas in the world. Look for big mountains, a variety of friendly animals, rushing rivers, and scenic views.

Our first destination is Hobbiton, the film set of the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. We'll spend 2 hours touring The Shire, visiting 44 hobbit holes and gardens, and uncovering film secrets. We'll also enjoy a drink at the Green Dragon™ Inn.

Next, we'll head to Tirau, known as the World Capital of Wrought Iron. After this picturesque village, we'll have a stop for a meal if desired.

In Rotorua, we'll explore the Wai-O-Tapu Geothermal Wonderland on a guided tour, featuring Lake Champagne, Devil's Bath, mud pools, and geothermal craters.

We'll also enjoy a scenic drive around Rotorua's landmarks, including Lake Rotorua, the Rotorua Museum, and more. If time allows, we may stop to try some Manuka honey. We'll conclude the tour 13 hours after it starts, at the departure point in Auckland.
