Covadonga Small-Group Day Trip

If you're in Avilés, you can't miss this small-group day trip to Covadonga. You'll see the lakes, the Santa Cueva, the basilica and Cangas de Onís.

Description

We'll pick you up at the central station of Avilés. We'll get on a minibus and head east to Covadonga, one of the emblems of Asturias.

First, we'll visit the wildest part of Covadonga. With our smaller vehicle, we can access Ercina Lake easily and visit the Entrelagos viewpoint for views of the lakes of Covadonga.

After enjoying the views, we'll visit the Holy Cave of Covadonga, home of the "Santina" and King Pelayo. We will learn about the veneration of this virgin and the history of the Battle of Covadonga.

Next, we will continue to the Basilica of Santa María la Real in Covadonga, a neo-Romanesque temple completed in the 19th century.

Our following stop will be Cangas de Onís, where you'll have an hour of free time to explore or have lunch. Afterward, we will visit the Roman bridge and the Santa Cruz chapel.

We will conclude the excursion by returning to Avilés after a total of 8 hours.
