Hiking and Kayaking at the Emerald Lagoon

On this hiking and kayaking trip at the Emerald Lagoon, you'll experience the unique beauty of this lake. We will meet at the main square of Ayacucho at 6 am and travel through the Andean highlands towards Huanta, where we will have a breakfast break.

At approximately 11 am, we will arrive at the starting point for a half-hour trek through pastures to the Verdecocha or Emerald Lagoon, located at an altitude of 4300 meters (14,100 feet). The hike leads to a stunning lake.

After reaching the lagoon, we will board kayaks to paddle across the water, known for its unique crystalline emerald green color. We will explore and take photos of this natural environment before continuing our journey with a stop at the Uchuraccay sanctuary to learn about its history.

At the end of the trail, a bus will take us to lunch in Huanta, where you will have free time to sample local cuisine. After lunch, we will take a brief tour of Huanta, known as the Emerald of the Andes, and visit the statue of the White Christ.

Finally, we will return to Ayacucho and drop you off at the departure point around 6 pm.
