Hiking and Kayaking at the Emerald Lagoon
On this hiking and kayaking trip at the Emerald Lagoon, we will meet at 6 am in the main square of Ayacucho. Our journey begins through the plains of the Andean highlands towards Huanta, where we will stop for breakfast.
We will arrive at the starting point for our half-hour trekking route around 11 am, leading us through the pastures to the Verdecocha or Emerald Lagoon, located at an altitude of 4300 meters (14,100 feet). We will immerse ourselves in the surroundings before boarding the kayaks to paddle across the uniquely colored waters.
After enjoying the environment and taking photos, we will return to the trail with a stop at the Uchuraccay sanctuary to rest and learn about its history.
At the end of the trail, a bus will take us to lunch in Huanta, where you will have free time to explore the local cuisine. Following lunch, we will take a brief tour of Huanta, known as the Emerald of the Andes, and visit the statue of the White Christ.
We will conclude our trip by returning to Ayacucho, with an estimated drop-off time at the departure point around 6 pm.
