On this hiking and kayaking trip at the Emerald Lagoon, you will experience the beauty of this uniquely colored lake. Paddle across the green waters and connect with the natural surroundings.

Hiking and Kayaking at the Emerald Lagoon

We will meet at the main square of Ayacucho at 6 am and travel through the plains of the Andean highlands towards Huanta, making a pit stop for breakfast.

By around 11 am, we will reach the starting point for our half-hour trek through pastures to the Verdecocha or Emerald Lagoon, located at an altitude of 4300 meters (14,100 feet). The hike will be rewarding upon arrival.

After immersing ourselves in this natural enclave, we will board the kayaks to paddle across the unique, crystalline emerald green waters. You will have the opportunity to learn about the lake's distinctive characteristics.

After enjoying the environment and taking photos, we will continue on the trail, stopping at the Uchuraccay sanctuary to rest and learn about its history.

At the end of the trail, a bus will be ready to take us for lunch in Huanta, where you will have free time to taste the local cuisine. After lunch, we will take a brief tour of the town known as the Emerald of the Andes and visit the statue of the White Christ.

Finally, we will return to Ayacucho and drop you off back at the departure point at around 6 pm.
