Huatuscalla & Huanta Excursion

With this excursion to Huatuscalla, we'll visit landscapes of valleys, basins, and ravines full of Andean vegetation, with a stop in Huanta for liquor tasting.

Huatuscalla & Huanta Excursion

At 9:15 am, we'll meet at Plaza de Armas, the main square in Ayacucho, to begin a day exploring natural settings.

We'll start by heading towards the Huatuscalla canyon, situated in Luricocha. Upon arrival, you'll experience scenic views of valleys, basins, and gorges. The town of Huatuscalla is located at 3,060 meters above sea level, where we'll commence a 30-minute hike up to the viewpoint of Huatuscalla.

From this viewpoint, we'll have a panoramic view of the Huarpa and Cachi rivers joining to form the Mantaro River. After capturing photos, we'll head into town, giving you free time for lunch.

Next, we'll board the bus to visit Huanta, known as the Emerald of the Andes. The tour includes the main monuments such as the Matriz Church, the Municipal Palace, and various archaeological sites and ruins. The tour concludes with a liquor tasting.

Finally, we will return to Ayacucho and drop you off at the meeting point at 5 pm.
