Huatuscalla & Huanta Excursion
At 9:15 am, we'll meet at Plaza de Armas, the main square in Ayacucho, to begin a day in nature. We'll head towards the Huatuscalla canyon, one of the highest altitude areas in the district of Luricocha. Upon arrival, we'll hike for 30 minutes up a gentle slope to the viewpoint of Huatuscalla, located at 3,060 meters above sea level.
From the viewpoint, we'll enjoy a panoramic view of the Huarpa and Cachi rivers, which form the Mantaro River. After taking photos, we'll go into town for free time to have lunch on your own.
Next, we'll visit the city of Huanta, known as the Emerald of the Andes, where we'll tour the town and admire the Matriz Church, the Municipal Palace, and various archaeological sites and ruins. The tour concludes with a tasting of huanteño liquors.
Finally, we'll return to Ayacucho and drop you off at the meeting point at 5 pm.
