Peruvian History Tour
At 9:30 am, we'll meet in the Plaza Mayor square and embark on a journey to the Wari Archaeological Complex, lasting one and a half hours. Here, we will explore remnants of the first Andean civilization from the 7th to the 13th centuries. Highlights include the Site Museum displaying various archaeological pieces, the Templo Mayor of the ancient city of Wari, and the underground tunnels used as tombs.
Next, we'll visit Quinua, a town in Ayacucho known for its crafts and pottery, showcasing the ancient Wari culture through depictions of musicians, llamas, and roosters.
Close to Quinua is the Pampas de Ayacucho Historic Sanctuary, the site of the decisive Battle of Ayacucho, which ended Spanish rule in Latin America. An optional horse ride in the area is available for added experience.
We will return to Ayacucho by 2:30 pm.
