Tour to Pachapupum Volcano

With this excursion to the Pachapupum volcano, you'll visit the famous volcano in Sacsamarca and bathe in its mineral-rich pools!

Tour Details

We'll meet at the Plaza de Armas at the indicated time. The bus will take us to Sacsamarca, a cattle district south of Ayacucho.

During the 4-5 hour road trip, we will stop in the town of Condorccocha for a break and breakfast on your own. We will stop again in Huanca Sancos for those who need to buy food for lunch.

We will reach the Pachapupum volcano and walk up to the top via natural steps formed by erosion. At the top, you can see the impressive crater measuring 10 meters in diameter with boiling water due to geothermal heat.

There are other small wells around the crater also formed by erosion. The waters are rich in minerals such as salt and sulfur. You can bathe in these hot springs and enjoy their natural healing properties—remember to bring your swimsuit.

We will take a break for lunch, and then return by bus to Ayacucho. Arrival at the departure point is scheduled for 18:00.
