Bacalar Lagoon Boat Trip
We'll meet at the selected time at Rancho Encantado Hotel dock, where we'll board a boat for a two-hour ride on the Bacalar Lagoon, also known as the 'Lagoon of Seven Colors'.
This large expanse of turquoise waters is formed by a series of dreamy cenotes that vary in color depending on their depth. First, we'll cruise through the Cocalitos cenote to see its thousand-year-old stromatolites, mineral formations found in very few places in the world.
Next, we'll head to the La Bruja cenote, a dark blue lagoon spanning 130 meters in diameter that hides a mystical Maya legend, which will be shared during the tour. Afterward, we'll continue our boat ride through the Esmeralda cenote, admiring its beautiful crystalline waters.
During the trip, we'll circle around Isla de los Pájaros (Birds Island) to check out the hawks, larks, parrots, and owls that inhabit there. Lastly, we'll stop at the Pirates' Channel, a connection point between Bacalar Lagoon and Chetumal Bay, noted for its historical significance related to pirate attacks.
At the end of the boat trip, we'll head back to the starting point, concluding the experience after two hours.
