Join us on a free tour of Baeza as we unravel the legacies left behind by 3 different faiths and customs in a city of three cultures.

Baeza: A City of Three Cultures Free Tour

We'll kick off our free tour of Baeza as we leave from Paseo Portales Zapatería. After a quick introduction to Baeza, a World Heritage Site, we'll begin our stroll through its historic center. Our first stop will be the Paseo de la Constitución, formerly the city's bustling market.

Next, we'll explore the trade history of Baeza and uncover the main goods exchanged by its diverse cultures. We will then visit the Santísima Trinidad Secondary School, where we will see the classroom of Antonio Machado, the poet who taught here from 1912 to 1919.

Leaving the University, we’ll visit Plaza de Santa Cruz to contemplate the church and the Palacio de Jabalquinto, both connected to the three cultures of Baeza. After understanding this significance, we'll proceed to Plaza de Santa María.

Here, we will marvel at the Cathedral of the Nativity of Our Lady, built on an ancient mosque foundation, with the bell tower once serving as a minaret. We'll wander through the cathedral's surrounding alleyways rich in Muslim heritage and enjoy views of the olive groves. We conclude with an olive oil tasting at a local venue.

The tour lasts 1.5 hours and concludes in Plaza del Pópulo, near the starting point.
