Baeza: A City of Three Cultures Free Tour
We'll kick off our free tour of Baeza from Paseo Portales Zapatería. After an introduction to Baeza, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, we'll begin our stroll through its historic center, starting at the scenic Paseo de la Constitución.
Next, we'll explore Baeza's trade history and the main goods exchanged by its diverse cultures, then proceed to the Santísima Trinidad Secondary School where Antonio Machado taught from 1912 to 1919.
Afterward, we'll continue to Plaza de Santa Cruz to view the church and the Palacio de Jabalquinto, both linked to Baeza's three cultures. Then, we will head to Plaza de Santa María.
In this area, we'll see the Cathedral of the Nativity of Our Lady, built on the site of an ancient mosque. The bell tower previously served as a minaret. We'll traverse the cathedral's surrounding streets, rich in Muslim heritage, and enjoy views of olive groves. The tour will conclude with an olive oil tasting.
The tour lasts 1.5 hours, ending in the Plaza del Pópulo, close to our starting point.
