Whale Watching in Bahía Solano
- 5 - 8 Stunden
In this whale-watching activity in Bahía Solano, we'll admire the largest marine animals of the Colombian Pacific.
Whale Watching in Bahía Solano
You can choose from the following options when making your reservation. Both meet at Carrera 2 in Bahía Solano, in the tourist area of Ciudad Mutis, at the designated time.
5-hour tour
After a brief introductory talk about humpback whales, we'll walk to the beach of Ciudad Mutis to embark. If it's low tide, transportation will be provided by tuk-tuk or minibus to the dock of Bahía Solano.
During the journey, we'll learn about these cetaceans and, if conditions allow, use a hydrophone to listen to the sounds of the whales underwater. We may also spot dolphins, turtles, sailfish, sharks, or seabirds.
A snack consisting of lemonade or iced tea and either cheese bread or a croissant will be provided on board. After 3-4 hours of whale watching, we'll return to the starting point, with the total duration being between 4 and 5 hours, depending on the tides.
8-hour tour
In this option, after the 5-hour itinerary, we'll continue to Playa Mecana. If the tide is high, we'll sail to the mouth of the Mecana River to explore the mangrove forest. If it's low tide, we'll disembark on the beach and walk to the river.
The tour includes a typical lunch at the home of two natives of the Mecana community, featuring freshly caught fish, patacones or yucca, rice, salad, and soup.
After lunch, we'll have a short rest on the riverbank before tubing on the Mecana River. We'll then return to the starting point, with the total duration depending on the tides.
