Salinas del Gualicho Trip
At the scheduled time, we will pick you up in Las Grutas before heading to Salinas del Gualicho: the second largest depression in Argentina.
Upon arrival at the salt deposits, we will explore their vast dimensions. Located 236 feet below sea level, the salt flats cover an area of 166 square miles, which is twice the size of Buenos Aires. As we travel through this space, we will learn about some of the 8000 uses for salt.
The tour will include a visit to the industrial area, where salt crystals are harvested and packed. We will also see the salt piles, which can accumulate up to 450,000 tons. Following these visits, we will view the sunset over the Salinas del Gualicho, a remarkable experience.
During the sunset, a Creole dinner outdoors will be served, including chicken with vegetables, bread, wine, mineral water, coffee, and dessert. After dinner, we will take advantage of the dark sky to observe the stars with telescopes and other astronomical instruments.
Finally, we will return to Las Grutas, arriving back at the original starting point between 10 pm and midnight, depending on the time of year.
