It has been more than 500 years since Christopher Columbus set foot in Cuba. Discover the exact point where he arrived in 1492 with this Bariay National Monument day trip from Guardalavaca.

Description

We'll pick you up at your hotel in Guardalavaca at the designated time and set out for the Bariay National Monument, a series of monoliths erected to symbolize Columbus's arrival on Cuban soil. This site was the first place in the New World that the Santa María, Pinta, and Niña crew saw.

Upon arrival, we will explore figures commemorating the convergence of two cultures: neoclassical arches representing Europe and replicas of aboriginal statues reflecting the ancient American continent and local pre-Hispanic vestiges. Inside Bariay Park, we'll also view reproductions of indigenous huts.

We will then enjoy Cuban coffee, coconut water, and seasonal fruit at a local's house. To appreciate the natural beauty, we'll take a ride in a carriage or on horseback to see Bariay Bay, mangrove areas, coconut trees, and royal palms.

Finally, we will relax on Bariay Beach, where you can take a refreshing bath before our return journey to your hotel in Guardalavaca after a total of 8 hours.
