Description
We'll pick you up at your hotel in Guardalavaca at the scheduled time and set off for Holguin. The trip will take one hour.
Upon arrival, we'll start our excursion at the Mirador de Mayabe for views of the Cuban countryside. Next, we’ll visit the Orígenes Mural, made with 20 tonnes of concrete, and the San Isidoro Cathedral, known for its colonial facade and Arab interior.
After, we’ll arrive at the Plaza Calixto García Íñiguez, inaugurated in 1720, to discuss the Cuban War of Independence. We will then visit the La Periquera Museum to learn about aboriginal remains and works that have shaped Holguin's identity. There is a legend regarding the name of this colonial house related to Spanish troops' uniforms.
We’ll also stop at the church of San José, which served as a defensive fort during the independence struggle and is the oldest basilica in the city.
Next, we’ll climb 458 steps to the Loma de la Cruz for a panoramic view of Holguín. Finally, we’ll return to Guardalavaca, arriving at your hotel after a six-hour excursion.
