The tour begins at Burgalimar Castle: the sturdy fortress of Umayyad origin located in Baños de la Encina, Jaén. The guided tour of Baños de la Encina Castle lasts approximately 45 minutes. Participants will enter the interior, observing its solid defensive perimeter and learning about the fortress's history, which was strategically situated at the beginning of the Guadalquivir valley during the Andalusian period. The site was contested by Muslims and Christians throughout the Middle Ages.

Near the castle, the Battle of Navas de Tolosa occurred in 1212, marking a significant confrontation between the two sides. Additionally, the tour will include a visit to the Torre del Homenaje, constructed after the Christian reconquest of the area, and will conclude with insights into the fortress's important aspects.

Timetable

Reservations can be made for morning or afternoon tours. The afternoon tour offers a view of the sunset over the olive groves surrounding Baños de la Encina.
