Day Trip Details

Your adventure begins with a pick-up from your hotel in Baracoa at the scheduled time. We will embark on an exciting journey into the protected natural area surrounding the Yumurí River in an off-roading vehicle.

As we traverse the route, you will be captivated by the tropical forest and the area's lush vegetation. Along the way, we will pass by coffee, taro, sweet potato, and yam fields. Expect to learn intriguing facts about local life and the importance of soil conservation in agriculture.

Upon reaching Yumurí, enjoy a boat trip that offers breathtaking views of the tall canyon walls. These spectacular cliffs rise up to 200 meters (656 feet) on each side of the river, extending to where the river meets the Atlantic Ocean. Curious about why the Indigenous community named this river Yumurí? This trip will provide the answer!

We'll navigate across the river, cruising down its only navigable section, which is a mere 300 meters (984 feet) long. A highlight of this experience is the opportunity to take a refreshing dip in a natural pool formed along the river's bend.

Next, we will proceed to Punta de Maisí, Cuba’s easternmost point. Here, you will be able to view the iconic lighthouse, affectionately called "La Concha" by locals. Did you know that on clear days you might even see Haiti from its highest point?

After exploring Maisí, we will enjoy a typical Cuban lunch at the Faro de Maisí hotel.

After a fulfilling total of 8 hours, we will conclude the day and depart with fond memories back to your hotel in Baracoa.
