Discover the landscapes of the Yumurí River on this trip from Baracoa. You will travel through a canyon and visit the Punta de Maisí while passing through fields of taro, coffee, and sweet potatoes.
Day Trip Details
Pickup will be from your hotel in Baracoa at the designated time to enter the protected area around the Yumurí River in an off-roading vehicle.
During the journey, you will experience the tropical forest and lush vegetation, passing by coffee, taro, sweet potato, and yam fields. Information about local life and soil conservation for farming will be provided.
Upon arrival at Yumurí, a boat trip will offer views of the canyon walls, which reach up to 200 meters (656 feet) on either side of the river to its mouth into the Atlantic Ocean. You will learn about the Indigenous community's naming of the river.
The boat will navigate the river's only navigable section, which is 300 meters (984 feet) long, and you will have the opportunity to swim in one of the natural pools.
Next, the tour will proceed to the Punta de Maisí, the easternmost point in Cuba, where you will view the lighthouse known as "La Concha." On clear days, it is sometimes possible to see Haiti from this location.
The day will conclude with a typical Cuban lunch at the Faro de Maisí hotel, and after a total of 8 hours, you will return to your hotel in Baracoa.
