Larimar Mines Day Trip

We'll pick you up from your hotel in Barahona for a day trip to the Larimar Mines, the only place on earth where this semiprecious gemstone is found, unearthed in 1974.

Traveling in a 4x4 vehicle, we will ascend the Bahoruco mountain range for about an hour to reach the mines, where the turquoise gemstone is extracted. It is said that possession of this stone brings a worry-free life.

During the tour of the mines, we will visit a larimar workshop where artisans process the gemstone locally. This offers an opportunity to find a souvenir.

Next, we will go to Paraiso Beach for a traditional lunch while enjoying the seascape. After lunch, you will have free time to relax at the beach before we return to Barahona.

We will drop you off at your hotel approximately 4 hours after pickup.
