When in Belém, a trip to Mosqueiro Island is essential, lying just a short distance from the southern bank of the Pará River. Prepare to be captivated by its beautiful beaches!
Description
Your journey begins with a convenient pickup from your Belém hotel at the arranged time, setting off towards Mosqueiro Island, located to the north of the city. This island features an impressive stretch of 17 kilometers (10.5 miles) of picturesque beaches.
The name of the island has an intriguing origin, derived from a traditional method employed by indigenous communities to preserve fish and game. We will share this fascinating backstory with you. To reach the island, we will traverse the Sebastião R. de Oliveira Bridge, an impressive structure measuring 1,485 meters (close to a mile in length!).
Upon our arrival, the exploration commences. We will first visit Praça Matriz, where you can indulge in a typical tapioca. Following this, we will immerse ourselves in the village of Mosqueiro, where you can admire the Matriz Church and hear engaging tales about the island's rich history.
Subsequently, we will make our way to the beach, allowing you some leisure time to soak in the breathtaking views and enjoy lunch at your own leisure. Savor the unique flavors of the local cuisine at your own pace!
After approximately seven hours of exploration, we will take you back to your hotel in Belém.
