Alberobello in Apulia and Matera in Basilicata are two picturesque towns in southern Italy. You'll discover all their charm on this self-guided tour of the southern part of the country.
Tour Details
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at Piazza Eroi del Mare, 98 ft (30 m) from Bari's Chamber of Commerce and start touring the south of Italy by minibus.
We'll drive through the landscapes of Apulia, reaching Alberobello in about one hour. You'll have 3 hours of free time to visit its iconic trulli, which became a World Heritage Site in 1996.
The main attractions include the Siamesi and Sovrano trulli, as well as the neighborhoods of Rione Aia Piccola and Rione dei Monti. Other recommended sites are the church of San Antonio di Padua and the Basilica of San Cosimo and San Damiano.
After your free time, we will regroup to head to Basilicata. At 1:30 pm, we will arrive in Matera, recognized as the European Capital of Culture in 2019. You’ll have 4 hours for lunch and visiting the Sassi of Matera, notable for its cave houses. This location was also featured in the film No Time to Die.
We will return to the meeting point, arriving 10-11 hours after pickup.
