Description

After meeting at the Teatro Petruzzelli at the indicated time, we'll leave Bari to begin our day trip to Matera and Altamura.

Our first destination is Matera, known for its ancient rock-cut cave, which was the first site in southern Italy recognized by Unesco. The inhabitants lived in cave houses until 1952, forming two districts called Sassi. We will explore its winding cobbled streets and enjoy panoramic views of the Murgia hills.

After visiting Matera, we will proceed to Altamura. In Altamura, you'll have the opportunity to experience its historic centre and its renowned artisan bread, considered among the best in Italy. You will have free time to eat and try this delicacy at the local stone ovens.

Finally, we will reconvene to conclude the excursion, returning to Bari approximately 7 hours after the tour begins.
