Prepare to be amazed by the breathtaking landscapes and rich biodiversity along our hiking route through the Chicamocha Canyon. Over the course of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles), you'll have the chance to witness a genuine natural marvel up close.

Description

We'll meet at Barichara's main park and take a minibus to the village of Villanueva, with a travel time of about two hours.

Upon arrival in Villanueva, we will proceed to Alto de Martha, the starting point for the hiking adventure through the Chicamocha Canyon.

The hike covers 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) and passes through areas such as Macaregua, Mesa de los Santos, and Aratoca. We will visit the Rancho Alegre viewpoint for panoramic views of the canyon, providing a photo opportunity.

At this viewpoint, we'll take a short break and discuss the landscape's historical evolution. This area was nominated for the Natural Wonders of the World list.

As we continue, we will experience the lush vegetation of the canyon, observe its river, and look for local birds and monkeys. Additionally, we'll walk on cobblestone paths laid by Geo von Lengerke during the colonial period.

Due to the demanding nature of the 5-hour trek, we will pause for a picnic that includes a sandwich, fruit, and water.

With renewed energy, we will make our way to the town of Jordan, where our minibus will be waiting. The entire activity lasts approximately 9 hours, concluding back at Barichara.
