When making your reservation, you can select from various workshop options, each commencing at Barichara Main Park. This includes pickup and drop-off services to ensure a seamless experience.
Painting Workshop (2 hours)
In this workshop, you'll embark on a journey of earth painting, learning the age-old craft of using natural pigments sourced from the environment. Explore an array of colors and techniques while producing a unique painting that you can take home as a treasured memory!
This session is designed to be inclusive, requiring no prior painting experience. Along with traditional techniques, you'll receive invaluable tips and tricks to help you create a remarkable piece, sparking your interest in further explorations of earth painting.
The duration of this workshop is 2 hours, with an extra 10 minutes allocated for transfers to and from the pickup points.
Basketweaving Workshop (2.5 hours)
By selecting this option, you'll gain insight into the art of traditional basketweaving using Pedro Alejo Vine. If this material is unfamiliar, rest assured that by the end of the workshop, you will have mastered its characteristics and completed a beautiful piece to take home!
As you work with this ancient material, you will also hear captivating stories from the region's history, providing context about the lives of Barichara's ancient inhabitants. The highlight: your very own crafted basket to cherish and display.
This immersive 2-hour experience will conclude with your return to the initial meeting point. Please factor in 40 minutes for the transfer to and from the workshop.
Ceramic Workshop (3 hours)
If pottery intrigues you, consider participating in our workshop focused on basic pottery techniques. Here, you will visit an artisan's workshop where the process is revealed. The session will commence with a look into the Guane technique, employed by the indigenous communities of Barichara and its surroundings.
Familiarize yourself with the tools essential for ceramic crafting and learn how to prepare the clay before getting hands-on with the material to create a unique item. Please be aware that your creation cannot be taken home immediately as it must dry for a day; however, you'll receive a pre-made piece as a memento.
This ceramic workshop will run for 2 hours, with an additional hour designated for the pickup and drop-off transfers to the center of Barichara.
